Bathing

Bathing your cat on a regular basis will help you to keep the cat's coat in a beautiful condition and reduce shedding. Do it approximately once a month.
We use the kitchen sink to wash our cats.

Wet the hair down. And for the first shampooing use Dawn dishwashing soap. Dilute it half and half with water and work it in the hair paying special attention to the greasiest areas, such as the chin, the tail, the belly, the front legs, and the areas behind the ears.
Rinse it out thoroughly.
For the final shampoo use any kind of shampoo for longhair cats that you like. We do not recommend using people's shampoo because their additives irritate cat's skin.
In the winter time we always use some kind of a conditioner. It helps to take off static from the cat's hair.
You have to rinse thoroughly after every step, making sure there is no more soap in the hair. Take your time rinsing.
As a final step to make sure all the soap is out use a table spoon of white vinegar diluted in a pitcher of water. Rinse the cat's hair with this mixture. And rinse with a regular water after that to remove the vinegar.
Wrap your kitty in a towel and hold her for a several minutes to absorb water in the towel.
For drying we use a special powerful pet-dryer, but any human dryer will work well also, just use it in the lowest setting not to burn your kitty. Dry the hair thoroughly. You can use a comb to separate the hair, but make sure you are not ripping or pulling the hair out. Usually feet and belly are the last to dry.
