Coat Care

Exotics' coat can be of two different types - Shorthair and Longhair. However, the coat texture is pretty much the same in both types of Exotics. So please don't be mistaken that Exotic Shorthair cats require less grooming than Longhair Exotics.
To keep mats and tangles to a minimum on your cat's coat we recommend daily combing using a wide-toothed steel comb. Make it your every day's routine, and then your cat will always be an "eye-catcher" for your visitors and guests.

We start grooming our kittens when they are about 3-4 weeks old. This way they are well adjusted to it and accept grooming as something that is suppose to happen every day.

Start combing the areas the cat may not like groomed, such as between the hind lags, under its arms, etc. And finish at the areas that cats like - under the chin, on the back.
If you feel that you cannot keep up with the grooming, you can trim some areas. Or you can shave the entire cat. Although we recommend doing it only for summer.
